Wow, here we are! Today we’ve released the December Living Worlds scene, the final chapter in the cycle. This last year has been quite the adventure… It’s been wonderful to reconnect with this artwork from so long ago, and to connect with all the wonderful folks who love it just as I do!

It’s also been a challenge, rediscovering all the nuances and details, sifting through all the old data files. I’ve had to remember old tricks and invent new ones. I’m glad we chose to do this one month at a time… It would have been too daunting a task otherwise! I’m thankful for the help from Mark (cleaning up bits that have fallen into disrepair, reminding me of how things are supposed to fit together, etc.) and Joe (pitching in with technology assistance throughout).

Every scene has presented unique challenges, and December was no different. It, like October, has a progression through the month, but this time with even more complicated interrelations. We found that a number of the palettes weren’t quite right for all the combinations of elements we wanted to see, so Mark ended up doing a good deal of last-minute cleanup. I’m quite pleased with the result… A super cozy “homecoming” to round the series out with.

This scene brings the logbook to a conclusion as well. It’s been fun seeing Mark add that new dimension to the work. I feel the story ties the pieces together beautifully; it’s hard for me to imagine them without that thematic backdrop now. If you like his writing, check out his ongoing TWICE serial!

What’s next? Well, for starters, I’m going to take a break. Then I’m going to try to do a better job of getting the word out about this lovely app I’ve made… The response has been great, but I bet there are lots of people who need this app in their life but don’t realize it yet! And then… There’s a long wish list of feature suggestions from people; I’ll see about tackling them when I’ve recovered from this year-long marathon of digital archaeology. Beyond that, who knows?

I’m delighted by how many people have bought the app, and all the wonderful things people are saying. I’m glad this art from 26 years ago still brings people joy. Thank you all for being part of this year-long rediscovery!
